Dateclub on Telegram
The hard part of meeting someone online is that you're rarely on the site at the same time. If you use Telegram, Dateclub can tell you there when something happens, and open right inside Telegram so you can answer at once.
What the bot sends you
- Who wrote to you. A message saying that someone sent you a message, or wants to chat, with their first name. Never the message itself.
- When we reply. If you've written to Dateclub in Messages and we've answered.
- Someone new likes you. Once, until you've looked. It doesn't say who; the Likes you list does.
- When the Lounge is busy. How many new messages have been said in the Lounge since you were last there, at most every couple of hours. The number only.
- Instead of the email. While Telegram alerts are on, you don't get the email about the same message as well.
What stays on Dateclub
- Everything you write. Messages, Lounge posts and your profile never pass through Telegram. The bot only ever says who, never what, and it doesn't read what you type to it.
- Photos. No member's photo is ever sent to Telegram.
- Your Telegram identity. Nobody on Dateclub can see that you use Telegram, and we never put you in a group. We keep only the numbers Telegram uses for your account and your chat with the bot, not your Telegram name or phone number.
Opening Dateclub inside Telegram
Every alert has a button. Tapping it opens Dateclub inside Telegram, already signed in as you, on the chat or screen the alert was about. The bot's menu button does the same from anywhere. Because that signs you in, connecting Telegram has to be done from a signed-in Dateclub session, and anyone who can use your Telegram could open Dateclub as you: if you lose your phone, disconnect it and those sessions end.
How to connect
- On Dateclub, go to Me → Notifications → Telegram and tap Connect Telegram.
- Open the link in Telegram and tap Start. The link works for ten minutes and once.
- That's it. The bot says Connected, and the switches on that page let you choose what arrives.
Switching it off
Disconnect from Me → Notifications → Telegram, or send the bot /stop. Blocking the bot in Telegram does the same. The connection is also removed when you delete your account. The full picture of what is stored and for how long is on the privacy page.
Free. No passwords: we email you a one-tap sign-in link.
